An absolute rarity
The banana red is of course a very special banana because of its striking color. There is NO banana that can be compared to the red banana. Many are convinced that this gift of nature is particularly nutritious and can therefore make an important contribution to health.
characteristics
The unripe bananas are initially reddish brown-greenish. The skin is smooth and turns pink to reddish when ripe. This banana reaches up to 5cm in diameter and 15cm in length and is therefore larger than all known apple bananas. (“Banana Sini” and “Banana Ambul”)
A banana can weigh up to 200g in weight. There are of course smaller fruits, but in general the red bananas are quite thick and plump.
Taste experience
The mild, fruity yet intense exotic banana aroma of this rarity enchants me again and again. When fully ripe, completely different flavors develop that are difficult to describe.
Delicate-melting would be pretty appropriate here. Creamy, delicate and aromatic. However, it is difficult to find tree-ripe fruits because unripe harvested bananas are the norm in local markets.
Cultivation in Sri Lanka
The red banana has very high standards, grows slowly and only in the best locations. Because of their great popularity and high esteem, these bananas are rarely harvested to maturity, but only when they are large enough, which fortunately can sometimes be sufficient (physical ripeness) to preserve the taste. But basically it is very difficult to get these bananas if you have the same high standards as we do. Nevertheless, we don’t want to keep this banana from you and of course we try everything to find it – out of self-interest alone 😉
The fact is the red banana will change your prejudice against bananas! Banana is not the same as banana 😉
